new blog editor

The new weblog editor has been pushed out to all of the bloghorn blogs. The WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) interface is available when using recent versions of either IE or Mozilla (or it's leaner alter-ego Firebird). A plain textarea is in the place where the WYSIWYG would be for those browsers (such as Opera) that don't support designMode or MIDAS. Now, blogging is just as easy with Mozilla as it has always been with IE. We're now working on built-in spellchecking.

If you experience any problems using the new editor please email support@bloghorn.com or leave a comment here.

Errrr ... does this mean there is no longer the option to use the HTML editor?

I tried editing a post to change text colour but when I click on the text icon I keep getting "an error on page" message and no dropdown box with the colour selections. (?!)

Thanks kindly. All's well with the world again ... when in doubt click the little chevrons.

Error message still happens in WYSIWYG though. (Not that will be of concern to me in the world of tags.)

That kid is a genius, I tell you! Genius!

This particular genius kid is the FBI's prime suspect in the creation and propogation of the Lovebug, Nimda and Bugbear viruses. If found guilty the kid won't be out of jail until it's a very old teenager. I blame the parents!

You can now specify "Text" as your editor of choice rather than "WYSIWYG" under your account settings. "WYSIWYG" is the default choice when new user accounts are created though.

I found a good solution for spell checking until you are able to implement one into the system. It only works with IE based browsers :( however. The web address is http://www.iespell.com/ and it's just a small program that lets you run spell check right in the browser window simply by right clicking in the window and choosing 'Check Spelling' from the pop-up menu. To bad it's only supports IE as of now, hopefully I'll find something a little less Microsoft Dependent.

the text area is inaccessible to me
    when using Camino.

Can I set the editor to be a simple
    text-only textarea box ?
