STL Bloggers Blog Meetup
Seeing that we're boycotting the blog.meetup people and taking things into our own hand, I'll like to get the ball rolling on our next STL Bloggers Meetup. How's this:
Culpeppers CWE | October
if most people prefer friday instead of thursday, let me know via comments.
*slap forehead* what was I thinking... it's 2002, not 2003.

at 10/15/2002 2:37:27 PM- Yeah, and CSI is on Thursdays... I'm not really sure why we're boycotting, but we should probably have a way of telling others that we're boycotting b/c some people have signed up to meetup Wednesday night... But of course, if they were cool, they would have read it here first.
Why are we boycotting? And not that I watch a lot of the telly, but CSI is a good show.

at 10/15/2002 2:40:56 PM- the meetup.com people have been really unresponsive in
taking suggestions for venues. these people live in nyc,
and just randomly select places.
i know i've written them, and i think a couple others but
they've yet to reply or put our suggestions up to a vote.
yeah, there are people rsvp'd for tomorrow night, but they
always rsvp, and i haven't seen any of them.
granted, tommorrow's meetup is at the taproom - not a bad
venue...

at 10/15/2002 3:00:01 PM- THURSDAY is class night which is why I will be unable to make it--plus I have an exam, which means that I'd probably not be able to make it Wednesday anyhow, now that I think about it, so forget I complained, although I'd be more likely to make it Wednesday than Thursday although I should probably skip this week anyhow so if it stayed on Thursday then I wouldn't be tempted to come Wed. which would mean I wouldn't study or workout--both of which I need to do.
So, I re-vote for Thursday based on the fact that I'm irresponsible and have no discipline. But, that's not a standing vote--just this week's.

at 10/15/2002 3:01:35 PM- Oh, wait. Maybe I vote for Friday, then. That WAS the other choice, though that's my traditional night with the POB. Of course, we fight then, every Friday, so maybe Friday would be good for me. Except I should work out. So, nevermind. I still vote for Thursday.

at 10/15/2002 3:34:36 PM- We can be there around 9 on Friday.
From what I read, Meetup has an agreement with certain establishments to be paid to hold gatherings there. I guess that is how Meetup is going to make their money. I personally do not like their system, as there is little control over event planning, other than the establishments that have agreed to pay Meetup. I do not like that the planner cannot email the other people on the list in case last minute changes happen.I could have this wrong, sorry if this offends the Meetup fans. Yay for us for being able to gather people on our own. That and because we are so damn good looking, who wouldn't want to hang out with us? Sexy sexy bloggers that we are.

And Drew, if you are reading this, happy belated birthday. Anyone else needing well wishes? I wish you well.
¡viva la revolución! Down with Da Man! Up with bloggers! Eiiiiieeeeeeeee, I am buzzing so hard from all this sugar. I am eating cake as I type this. Here is a hint, if you need to have a pick me up in the morning and are out of coffee, take two spoonfuls of sugar. Bouncie bouncie bouncie. I will be off this test diet by Friday and in need of beer. Calm thoughts, calm thoughts.

at 10/16/2002 2:31:22 PM- maybe iniquity is a little harsh. then again, sitting down
at a bar across from Devo (one of the managers) is considered
taking one's life in one's own hands.
MPO = MP O'Reillys. here lately though, it's been getting
the name 'empty O'Reillys'.
they do have pretty good pool tables, but no food.

at 10/16/2002 2:58:49 PM- In that case Drew you'll need to skip MPOs and head straight to The Fox and the Hound, which is,IMHO, the coziest bar anywhere. Except for when it's crowded, then it sucks. It's crowded a lot. So, basically, it sucks, except for when it's not crowded. But even when it sucks it's cooler than most places that suck. Definitely cozier.

at 10/16/2002 6:42:12 PM- Um, I'm not going to sound off cause I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it or not. Probably not, but the possibility exists. We'll see. I don't work on friday, but i have other stuff to do, and I'd have to ride my bike there, but its a bit far, and it might be cold. And cold drunken bike riding isn't as good as fair weather bike riding.
When I think of den, i imagine a scene with a bunch of huge velvet pillows in a room, and tapestries on the wall. Some incredibly mellow music is playing, like tabla beat science or something. People, dressed in robes and flowing jackets are laying around the room, propped up on the pillows. A large hookah sits in the center of the room, the coal glowing faintly, with a thin line of smoke rising from its center column. People sip wine from glasses, and take slow lazy drags off of the hookah tube resting on the crook of their arm. Conversation is quiet and mellow, sometimes trailing off completely as the utter tranquility takes over.
Ahhhhh......

at 10/17/2002 12:04:17 AM- I have my own hookah. Well, its actually a sheisha, because it only has one tube, which is unfortunate. But its pretty dandy, and works well. Perfect for special occasions, either flavored tobaccos, or uh, whatever else you want.
Its cool that they have a hookah lounge. I enjoy lounging..

at 10/18/2002 9:15:37 AM- kofuzi will be the 11th.
i was waiting for number 11 because it is my lucky number.
being number one is good. and being number 11 is like having twice the goodness of being number 1. but you don't have that small bit of anxiety that you might be the only one. that would suck if that happened. so, being 11 is like being number one but with ten other buddies.
pumpkin bread is good.

at 10/18/2002 10:02:29 AM- So, as it turns out, I will be ESPECIALLY early. I have a meeting down the street from 3-4 and I see no reason to go back to the office--I may go fetch my car if i haven't already. So, by the time the rest of y'all get there, I'll probably be ready to go home. At least you will know that I was there in spirit.

at 10/18/2002 10:29:30 AM- hey. you snooze. you lose. you had your chance to be 11. 12 hours of time, to be specific. so, your qualms fall on deaf ears. 11 is mine.
i may also be there early. but i have to walk the dog first. and, no, that is not a euphamism for masturbation. well, not in this case.

at 10/18/2002 10:30:34 AM- Christy, we will be earlier than expected. We just have to stop off and exhange a blonde wig for a black wig at a costume shop on the way there. A strange errand, but one that must be done before that particular black wig sells out. Some women are not meant to be blonde. I am one of those women. I looked like a little old lady. Considering my costume, it was quite hilarious, but not the effect I was going for.

at 10/18/2002 12:33:28 PM- I'll probably show up too, and early. And just as a warning, if I show up NOT early, I'll have probably already commenced drinking. But I'll probably be early, too. So does anyone want to post directions? And should I go downstairs even if I'm way early?

at 10/18/2002 12:57:30 PM- walk in the door, and if you see Christy and i sitting at the bar, don't go downstairs. however, if you get there and don't see anyone you know, go downstairs. :)
directions: 40 west to Kingshighway north. go for a bit, turn right onto Maryland (right past the Chase). Culps is down a block (Euclid and Maryland) on the left. go past Culps and there is a parking lot on the left right past the STL Bread Co., park there.

Just cannot get too Ill, or it's no longer a party. Geez, I should post details of that in my blog. I forgot. Yes, Angeline, work is getting to me, too. Beer!!

at 10/18/2002 3:22:26 PM- Yeah, voice overs for commercials, voice mail, messages on hold, anything that may need a voice. My strangest one is the voice over on a gambling bus, telling people to please remain seated until the bus comes to a compelte stop. The most scandalous is for a 900 number, informing callers to hang up now if they don;t want to be charged. In the past two days, I have done 40 voice overs total. Right now, my voice is featured all around the world. I am really sick of being perky at this momemt. I am sure everyone reading this has heard me at least dozen times. And coming in November, the entire country will be hearing me once a week.. maybe.. depends on if a particular part of my new deal goes through. I'm very, very tired right now.

at 10/18/2002 6:51:55 PM- Ko, have you noticed that the number 11 is real sharp and pointy? Need I tell ya where to stick those 2 sharp and pointy numerals? :P Plus, it took a while to decide if we're going to go, as I am teaching Melf how to foil my hair tonight, and, well, I'd rather he did it sober the first time! He should be on his way home now, we'll see youse guys in a bit.

at 10/19/2002 11:32:32 AM- That's what time we went to sleep, after laying in bed and laughing about the evening. Each time the Bloogers hang out, it just gets better and better. I don't know how we could possibly top last night for laughs. The highlight for me has to be Dressel's and Ko's denoscriptions of how he and his friend hit on girls. And then to go to Ko's place and see the pick up cards, that was a priceless moment. "I have brownies." Thanks to everyone for such a fun time!

at 3/11/2004 3:05:40 PM- But, wow, Cybr, re-reading this thread brought back so many memories.
I remember that Ben did bring his laptop and he sat at the bar with me and Ryan being geeky.
That may have been the first time I met Mae and Matt--maybe not. It also might have been the first time I met Leesa, but then again, maybe not.
